Sills Cummis & Gross Announces 2023 Attorney Promotions

Sills Cummis & Gross is pleased to announce four attorneys – Matthew P. Canini, Jeffrey Gaskill, Ahmed J. Kassim and Matthew P. Posada – have been promoted to Members of the Firm, effective October 1, 2023.

Matthew P. Canini | Member of the Firm | Litigation
Matthew Canini focuses his practice on complex commercial and real estate litigation in both state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and Florida. He received his LL.M. in International Economic and Business Law from Kyushu University, his J.D., cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law, and his BSBA and B.A. from the University of Florida. He is resident in the Firm’s New York office.

Jeffrey Gaskill | Member of the Firm | Real Estate
Jeffrey Gaskill focuses his practice on real estate finance matters, representing lenders in the origination of commercial real estate financing transactions secured by a variety of asset classes including hotels, multifamily apartments, retail, office and industrial. He also represents lenders in connection with loan workouts, restructurings and foreclosure matters. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. He received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and his B.S. and B.A. from Rutgers University. He is resident in the Firm’s Newark office.

Ahmed J. Kassim | Member of the Firm | Litigation
Ahmed Kassim is a trial lawyer who handles high-stakes product liability and commercial disputes in courts around the country. He represents some of the world’s best-known companies across an array of industries, including pharmaceuticals, consumer products, telecommunications, construction, insurance, banking and retail. Before his career in law, he worked as a chemical engineer for BASF Corporation. He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester. He is resident in the Firm’s Newark office.

Matthew P. Posada | Member of the Firm | Real Estate
Matthew Posada concentrates his practice on land use and redevelopment for commercial and multifamily residential projects. He also advises developers and redevelopers on deal structuring and financing methodologies. He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from Rutgers University. He is resident in the Firm’s Newark office.
