N.J. Legislature Approves Extending Time Limit on Building, Environmental Permits

The New Jersey Legislature recently advanced two bills. One extends the length of permit approvals granted before the housing market collapsed. The other extends the date new water protection and planning regulations will go into effect. “The average construction project requires dozens of permits, which can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and take years to get. This extension allows developers, at the first sign of life in the market, to move with shovel-ready approvals, allowing them to contribute to the economic recovery,” said Ted Zangari, Member of the Firm and Founder of the Smart Growth Economic Development Coalition.
