Jeffrey J. Greenbaum Receives 2026 Daniel J. O’Hern Award

Sills Cummis & Gross is pleased to announce that Jeffrey J. Greenbaum, Chair of the Firm’s Class Action Practice Group, received the 2026 Daniel J. O’Hern Award from the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law at the 2026 Professionalism Awards Luncheon on June 11, 2026, held at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
The Daniel J. O’Hern Award is presented annually by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law, a cooperative effort of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey judiciary and New Jersey’s law schools, to an attorney who is a well-respected member of the legal community and exhibits integrity, competence, high ethical standards, career achievement and service to the bar and/or community.
Greenbaum began his career as a law clerk to the Honorable Frederick B. Lacey, U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, and then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, where he handled complex fraud cases. He joined Sills Cummis as an Associate in 1977 and moved through the ranks to his current role as Chair of the Sills Cummis Class Action Practice Group. He is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney and an active litigator and trial attorney in the federal and state courts with a specialty in defending class action litigation and in complex business litigation.
Throughout his career, Greenbaum has been very active in service to the bar and in seeking improvement in the court system, in particular our court system for resolving civil disputes, and rules governing them. He has made significant contributions through various leadership roles within the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Litigation and in New Jersey, including as the former President of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey, where he led a number of initiatives to improve local federal practice. He also served for 12 years as a member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey Civil Practice Committee and is a long-serving member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Greenbaum has received numerous recognitions, including the NJBIZ “ICON Honors” in 2024, as well as being recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business since 2006, The Best Lawyers in America since 2005, Benchmark Litigation since 2008 and New Jersey Super Lawyers since 2005, among others.
