In this New York Law Journal article, IP lawyer Jason M. Sobel’s move to Sills Cummis is highlighted. Sobel joins as a Member of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and Chair of its Trademark, Trade Secrets, and Copyright Practice. He brings over two decades of experience from Brown Rudnick and Stroock & Stroock & Lavan.
As seen in the article, “‘Sills Cummis provides a more cost-effective platform with strong capabilities for my clients,’ Sobel, who will reside in the firm’s New York City office, said in a statement. ‘Sills Cummis’ platform is very well suited to practical, strategic, and efficient client service for operating companies. While Sills Cummis at about 150 attorneys is smaller than Brown Rudnick, the number of lawyers focused in my area of practice is not materially different. I cannot think of a matter that Sills Cummis’ IP team would not be equipped to handle.’”
The article continues, “‘Jason has extensive experience in IP litigation and trade secrets, providing great depth to our clients who expect aggressive representation at better price points,’ said Richard Epstein, Managing Partner-Elect.
“Looking at IP practice trends, Sobel has seen ongoing growth in demand in the trade secrets area of his practice, a trend that he said has grown over the past two decades.
“‘We are still in the midst of about a 20 year trend of exponential growth in trade secret case filings,’ Sobel said. ‘Clients are increasingly aware of trade secret risk, and there is need for advice across a diverse range of business operations. I built and maintained a very active trade secret practice at Stroock that I brought to Brown Rudnick, and now I am looking forward to continuing to be active in that area of my practice with my new and former colleagues.’”
