As seen in this article, “Sills Cummis & Gross has added on former acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna, the latest departure from the New Jersey U.S. Attorney’s Office, as chair of its white-collar practice group.
“Khanna had a long history at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, serving as an assistant U.S. attorney starting in 2011. After serving as deputy chief of the health care and government fraud unit in 2017 and deputy chief of the criminal division in 2018, he left to join Katten Muchin Rosenman as a partner for two years before returning to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2022 as the first assistant U.S. attorney under Philip Sellinger.
“‘I wanted to stay in New Jersey and continue to develop my career here. I have really deep ties in the community both from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and living and raising a family here,’ Khanna said.
“‘Sills Cummis is just one of the really well established, excellent New Jersey law firms,’ he continued. ‘Once I started talking to them I realized they really had a need for someone to come in and lead the white-collar department, which for me, coming out of the first assistant and acting U.S. attorney roles, was a tremendous opportunity.’
“Sills Cummis was originally co-founded by a former New Jersey attorney general, Arthur Sills; according to the firm’s current managing partner Max Crane, hiring Khanna fits into the firm’s larger, historical growth trajectory of focusing on ‘the intersection of law, business, and government.’”
