May 24, 2022
Beth S. Rose, Chair of the Sills Cummis Product Liability Practice Group, Co-Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department, Chair of the Firm’s Women’s Initiative, Co-Chair of the Firm’s Diversity Committee, and a Member of the Firm’s Management Committee, was included among the NJBIZ “2022 Leaders in Law.” Following an open nomination period, the Leaders in Law honorees were selected by a panel of independent judges for their outstanding dedication to their occupation and their communities. They were recognized at a ceremony at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ on May 24, 2022.
The following Q&A with Beth Rose appeared in the NJBIZ Leaders in Law Supplement.
What is your greatest contribution to the success of your company/clients?
I pride myself on being prepared, understanding the needs of my clients, and giving them practical advice that is consistent with their business goals. I make it a point to learn about their respective business, to honestly evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their legal position, and to give my best judgment even if it is not favorable.
Who has been your most influential role model?
My mother has taught me the value of hard work, commitment, and advocating for causes that are important to you. She is a true pioneer in developing services in New Jersey for individuals with disabilities. She is a tireless worker who never gives up; as a result, neither do I.
What types of charities, community involvement, or pro bono work are you involved in?
I am a longstanding Executive Committee member and Master in the Morris Pashman Inn of Court. My youngest sister has cerebral palsy, so contributing to the disabled community has always been a priority for me. I am an active member of Pillar Care Continuum, serving on the Board of Trustees for over 20 years. I am also on the Board of Trustees of Jewish Services for the Developmentally Disabled.
What would most people be surprised to learn about you?
First, I am an avid weight lifter—squats, deadlifts—you name it, I do it. It is a great way to start the day, before real life sets in. Second, I have a passion for traveling to national parks in the U.S. and throughout the world.
