Lawrence S. Horn Receives 2016 Professional Lawyer of the Year Award

Sills Cummis & Gross is pleased to announce that Lawrence (Larry) Horn was selected by the Association of the Federal Bar and the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law to receive a 2016 Professional Lawyer of the Year Award. Professionalism Awards are given annually to lawyers from bar associations across New Jersey who set a positive example for others in the profession by their conduct, competence and demeanor. The award ceremony took place today at The Imperia in Somerset, New Jersey.
Mr. Horn is Chair of the Sills Cummis & Gross Business Crimes and Tax Litigation Practice Groups. He received his B.A. from Princeton University, cum laude, in 1966 and his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1969. He was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey from 1971-1978 where he specialized in tax fraud prosecutions. Since 1979, his practice has consisted of defending individuals and companies who are the focus of federal white collar criminal investigations with a special emphasis on criminal tax investigations and prosecutions. Mr. Horn is a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney in New Jersey and is a frequent lecturer at national seminars and institutes concerning tax fraud and white collar crime defense issues. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
In 2010, Mr. Horn was presented with the prestigious Jules Ritholz Memorial Merit Award “in recognition of outstanding dedication, achievements and integrity in the field of civil and criminal tax controversies” by the American Bar Association Section of Taxation’s Committee on Civil and Criminal Tax Penalties.
Mr. Horn serves on the Board of Overseers of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where he is a member of the Annual Funds Committee and the Tanglewood Annual Fund Taskforce. He is also a member of the Council of Trustees at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Mr. Horn has also served on the Advisory Board of Princeton University, Class of 1966.
