Jay L. Silverberg is a Member of the Firm and is resident in the Firm’s New York office.
Before joining Sills Cummis & Gross, Mr. Silverberg was a member of the firm of Silverberg Stonehill Goldsmith & Haber, P.C. Prior to that, he was an associate at the firm of Proskauer Rose.
Mr. Silverberg is an experienced business lawyer. As a corporate attorney, he has regularly served in the role of outside general counsel to middle market businesses, and handled a wide variety of transactions. Among other things, he has handled mergers and acquisitions, asset based lending transactions, intellectual property licensing agreements, employment and consulting arrangements, initial public offerings, shareholders agreements, limited liability company operating agreements, compositions, forbearance agreements and workouts, and factoring arrangements.
He is also a seasoned business bankruptcy attorney with a diverse practice representing debtors, trustees, creditors committees, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, lenders, licensors, landlords and other parties in interest in Chapter 11 cases and bankruptcy litigation matters.
Mr. Silverberg has lectured on business law topics at venues that include Columbia University, Turnaround Management Association, CUNY, the New York Institute of Credit, National Association of Credit Management, Israel Discount Bank and public accounting firms. Some highlights have included chairing a roundtable discussion for the New Jersey Turnaround Management Association featuring Judge Gambardella, serving on a panel for the New York Institute of Credit with Chief Judge Lifland, and chairing a panel at the New York Institute of Credit with Judge Blackshear.
