Accountants & the Attorney-Client Privilege

This program will focus on the current state of the law in the area of privileges; focusing primarily on the attorney-client privilege, Fifth Amendment privilege, attorney-client work product doctrine, corporate privileges including accountant and tax preparer issues as well as waivers of privileges and what constitutes a valid waiver. The program will also discuss the new United States Department of Justice Guidelines with respect to privileges and related ethical issues as well as the act of production privilege, work product protection and potential sanctions for improper assertions of privilege. 

Also on the program are Eric O. Corngold, Chief, Business and Securities Fraud, and Jonathan Sack, former Chief Criminal Division, both of the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York.
