Ted Zangari, a board member of the Newark Alliance, a consortium of private business leaders, focused on Newark's revival, said: "The city is better poised to snag retailers than it was last year. With development projects in the pipeline,...there are more incentives to draw retailers to fill spaces... The City's maiden trip out to Las Vegas, I would characterize as table setting...[last year]. This year, the focus is likely to be different. The city is bubbling with development proposals just beneath the surface. Any number of them are going to pop very soon, notwithstanding a recession."
