Mark Olinsky, a Member of Sills Cummis & Gross who serves as President of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey, was interviewed about the two federal court vacancies in New Jersey.
"Filling these two vacancies is very important because the District of New Jersey leads its circuit in weighted filings and leads the country in vacant judgeship by a large margin," said Olinsky.
"With 17 authorized Federal judgeships, two vacancies means that our district is operating at less than 90 percent capacity despite its extraordinarily heavy caseload," he said. "This is among the reasons why the Judicial Conference of the United States identified the District of New Jersey to be in 'emergency status'. These prolonged vacancies deprive our residents of the full measure of justice they need and deserve."
